GIN O’CLOCK // win a bottle of pickering’s gin worth £29.95!

Pickering's gin

It’s Friday, which means only one thing… it’s Gin O’clock!

Whether you prefer your mother’s ruin topped with tonic and lemon, or mixed into a Tom Collins, or shaken into a martini, there’s nothing quite as quintessentially British as a sneaky gin after a long week of work (whether that be the slog of office life, working from your laptop at home, or navigating the daily school run).

Online drinks’ retailer 31.Dover and Mummy’s Little Monkey are giving you the chance to win this bottle of Pickering’s Original 1947 Gin.

This is not just any old botanical gin; created in Bombay in 1947, the recipe was scribbled on a scrap of paper just weeks before the partition of India and the end of British rule. For 66 years it was a closely-guarded family secret until being rediscovered in 2013.

Intrigued by the discovery, gin aficionados Marcus Pickering and Matthew Gammell decided to recreate the recipe from their boutique distillery in Edinburgh’s arts centre, Summerhall.

They blended juniper, coriander, cardamom, angelica, fennel, anise, lemon, lime and cloves, exactly like the original spirit, adding cinnamon for a warming kick. This botanical gin is best served with ice, tonic and a wedge of orange, or with ginger ale for a spicier finish.

If you fancy trying Pickering’s Original 1947 Gin for yourself, enter via the Rafflecopter form. Good luck!
