STAR OF THE SHOW // monnalisa kids’ dungarees

It takes a lot for Big Sis to get excited about clothes.

Unlike her fashion-obsessed younger sister, she’s just not that interested in what she puts on each day (or whether it matches, or whether it’s actually clean… ). You could say she’s at the ‘low maintenance’ end of the style scale.

So I knew we were on to a winner when these adorable MONNALISA star dungarees arrived, and she couldn’t wait to try them on.

Then she spent a good five minutes striking poses in the mirror – almost unheard of for our proudly self-titled tomboy. ‘They’re ace!’ she announced (the highest praise possible for a nearly nine-year-old).

She was so thrilled she willingly joined our woodlands photo shoot (teamed with a striped Next t-shirt, and glittery Gap slip-on shoes) and has since worn the dungarees to a Legoland birthday party, and her end-of-year school fair (one of the biggest events in the middle school’s social calendar).

Apart from the fact they look so darn cool (right?), she loves that they’re cut from really soft fabric, as she hates anything scratchy or sticking into her skin. The fastening clips make the dungarees quick and easy to get on and off (the biggest issue with onesie styles), and the deep front pockets are perfect for her constant collection of stones, leaves and fidget spinners.

What I love about the Monnalisa label is its sense of fun. Yes, their pieces are more expensive than high street styles, but you can instantly see why; the fabric is fantastic quality, and their styles are always beautifully tailored, with a ‘designer ready-to-wear’ feel. Every new collection is fresh and interesting and original – unlike some popular children’s wear brands, you won’t find every second child wearing the same outfit.

That aside, it’s worth it simply to see the excitement on Big Sis’s face each time she puts them on.
