I’ve already told you our exciting news – that we’re going to be PENNFEST family ambassadors this summer (squeee!).
Now I’m going to give you a little peek at some of the summer festival essentials we’ll be taking to make our very first family camping experience as fun and comfortable as possible, PLUS I’ll be giving you a chance to win your own bundle of goodies.
Kids’ headphones from ALPINE HEARING PROTECTION: not only are these Muffy over ear defenders ideal for protecting young ears from loud music (you can also get baby versions with elasticated bands to hold them snugly on little heads), and their Pluggies in-ear versions will hopefully help the girls sleep when we camp overnight. BTW: Lil Sis loves these so much she’s taken to wearing them around the house, and thinks the fact they’re pink is just fabulous.
One of the biggest modern camping dilemmas how to keep your phone charged: a flat battery means no selfies, no Instagram Stories, no Tweets, no texting your friends to meet you at the beer tent… can you imagine?! *fans self*.
The WAKAWAKA POWER+ is a compact, lightweight solar charger. Fully charged after 12-24 hours in the sun, the water-resistant bright yellow Power+ can then charge a smartphone in two hours, or provide 150 hours of safe, sustainable light. It also has an SOS emergency beacon. Added to that is the or every WakaWaka product sold one is donated to impoverished regions in Africa, war-torn areas such as Syria and countries hit by natural disasters.
Is there anything nicer than a hot cuppa in the morning? Perhaps only a cold beer on a hot day… and you can have both with the HYDRO FLASK. With a convenient carry handle and double-wall insulation, this clever design will keep hot drinks piping for six hours, and cold ones nicely chilled for up to 24. Team with the insulated TRUE PINT cups to create the perfect campsite refreshment station.
The BENTLEY EXPLORER portable camping light and power bank works as a traditional lantern (also with rapid red flash function), and a powerful charger for phones and small devices. Charge it up before you leave home, and this will give you plenty of extra juice to stay connected over the weekend. This compact unit is durable enough to handle bumps and knocks, and the handy magnetic base also means you can attach the light exactly where you need it.
You can’t have a festival without wellies. Fact. We were sent a pair of these fab BOGS rain boots, in preparation for a typical English summer. With flexible natural rubber uppers for maximum puddle-jumping comfort, Bogs have pull-on handles and special inner soles to reduce sweat, and keep feet dry. They also use bio-technology in the footbed to fight odours. But, best of all, they come in a range of funky colours and designs.
One of the more challenging aspects of festival life is keeping everything squeaky clean (one of the reasons we’ve invested in POSH LOO tickets for PennFest!). These ingenious SWISH TO GO powder sachets are suitable for all ages, and are like toothpaste, brush and mouthwash all rolled into one. You don’t even need water, as the powder transforms into liquid as soon as you sprinkle it on your tongue. Swish it around for 10 seconds for cleaner teeth and fresher breath.
So, there they are – some of the festival essentials we’ll be packing for PennFest. I’ll also be publishing a post of kids’ festival essentials AND giving away a hamper of goodies, including some Alpine baby ear defenders, a Bentley Explorer camping light and power bank, a pair of Bogs wellies, and a box of lemon Swish to Go.
