AUTUMN EXPLORING // hi-tec kids’ walking boots

Hi Tec kids' walking boots Lil Sis portrait

I love Autumn. I’d go so far as to say it’s my favourite season (which – as a former sun bunny from New Zealand – is a HUGE statement to make). I just adore it when the trees are ablaze in colours of red, orange and yellow, and the leaves flutter around your head like confetti.

After hearing about our recent trip to SNOWDONIA, and how much we all enjoy getting outdoors, Hi-Tec generously sent the girls a pair of waterproof walking boots to try out. Lil Sis loved her ALTITUDE LITE junior boots with the mauve trim, and Big Sis was equally thrilled with her PENRITH MID boots, with their bright purple soles.

We tried them out with a trip to our local woods, and the girls really put them to the test with lots of running, climbing and puddle jumping.

The first thing I noticed was how well the boots were made – they look great, but they’re really cleverly designed too.

The mid-rise height gives them great ankle support, while remaining flexible enough for them to comfortably run around. The laces pull snugly and smoothly through the eyelets, and the girls found them easy to do up (a quick double-knot from Mummy made sure they stay in place).

They’re completely waterproof, so I didn’t have to worry about them splashing through puddles, and the durable suede and mesh outdoor shell actually seemed to repel all the dirt they trekked through – once we were home and it had dried, I was able to quickly brush most of it off.

The Hi-Tec kids’ walking boots also have a moulded foot bed for extra comfort and support, and a special fabric inside that pulls moisture away from skin, removing that icky clammy feeling I remember from when I was a kid.

They’re really lightweight – perfect for running about – and the tongue is actually sewn into the lining of the boot, meaning you don’t get dirt and debris inside your shoes (which drives Big Sis mad). The girls had a great day – we ended up walking deep into the woods and making stick bivouacs, and discovering these rather crazy looking mushrooms…

    • Eurgh. Nothing worse than wet feet when you’re out on a walk. It’s reassuring to know the girls’ feet are properly protected and that their tootsies are all warm and dry! x

  11. Not enough kids wear decent hiking boots when out walking, and they do ofer a protection that wellies and other shoes just don’t offer. #brillblogposts
