collaborative review

I love being a mum, but I really hate the washing that goes along with it.

Seriously, how is it possible for the girls to get through every single item of their clothing in just one week?! Come the weekend their drawers are empty, while the floor of my small laundry room is buried beneath an avalanche of jumpers, jeans and dresses.

It. Drives. Me. Nuts.

Repeated pleas to the girls to NOT just dump every outfit in the washing pile – even if it’s been worn for just a few minutes – have continually fallen on deaf ears. I knew I needed a better system, but with limited space, time and motivation I just didn’t know what that was… until I spotted the new BRABANTIA stackable laundry basket.

I first saw these at a homewares expo, and knew straight away they were perfect, so was thrilled to be given the chance to review them.

These fabric-covered boxes arrive flat packed, and are put together in seconds. Once constructed, they hold up to 35 litres (a full washing machine load). They’re sturdy but lightweight, making them simple to pick up and move around using the side handles, and can be stacked three high (perfect for flats and small spaces).

The the flip-top lid can be opened completely, but what makes this laundry basket genius is the pull-down front opening. Rather than having to lift the top for every single stray sock, you simply open the flap and pop your laundry inside.

It sounds like such a small thing, but it really is quite amazing how much time and hassle you save by not having to constantly stack and re-stack the baskets in order to access the top. When you’re a busy mum, every second counts, right?

A decent laundry basket will usually put quite a dent in your wallet (I once paid £60 for a wicker one!) but the RRP of these is just £26.50. At that price you can buy separates ones for whites, darks and lights, or even get one for each family member (the side handles make them simple to carry from bedroom to laundry).

They come in black, light grey, red and pastel mint (although I would describe it more as a blue-green), so will match most interiors, and you can even pop one in the kids’ bedroom to neatly store all their teddies.

The BRABANTIA laundry box holds up to 35 litres, and can be stacked three high. It has a height of 44.5 cm (17.5 in), width of 32.0 cm (12.6 in) and a depth of 37.0 cm (14.6 in).

  1. Great selection and review.

  2. We’re currently in the middle of a massive home renovation project and I’m on the hunt for clever ideas – I love this – those flip down fronts are genius! I’ve found that multiple laundry baskets help families – one in each bedroom and bathroom and one for the downstairs laundry room (my small people seem to like to leave a trail of worn socks in the hallway and living room ‍♀️)
