Bills. Eurgh. No one enjoys sorting them out (do they?!).
I tend to set up automatic payments whenever I can, so the money is deducted each month without me having to think about it. Which might not be as sensible as it sounds…
The potential issue is that you can get complacent about what’s going out, and stop thinking about whether you can actually reduce your spending.
Which is exactly what Scottish Power hope to tackle with the introduction of their ‘POWERUP‘ energy package.
The technology was created after customer research revealed as many as six people in 10 have no idea how their energy bill is calculated.
With PowerUp you pay in advance for packages of gas and electricity, ranging from one day, to six months (180 days). The packages include Scottish Power’s most competitive rates, with an average daily energy price of between £2.10 to £2.50 (the more you buy the bigger your savings).
You know exactly what you’re spending and when – which means no more nasty excess bills at the end of the year. Plus, simple graphs show you exactly where your energy is going, which allow you to make adjustments and reductions where needed, and cut back on your bill. There are not sneaky standing or account charges – if you’re on holiday and don’t use any energy at all, you won’t be charged a penny.
You can then track your usage using the complementary app, which tells you at a glance how many days of energy you have left, according to your average daily usage.
There are not sneaky standing or account charges – if you’re on holiday and don’t use any energy at all, you won’t be charged a penny. Handy reminders let you know when it’s nearly time to top up, and you can quickly add extra days from your phone.
PowerUp is currently available to Scottish Power customers (and will eventually be more widely available). Switch now, and take back control of your bills.
