Earlier this week Big Sis’ school sent an email home to say they wanted to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday, and the kids could wear something ed, white and blue alongside their usual uniform.
I know Her Majesty’s official fancy celebration is still a couple of months away, but I was really pleased they’d decided to recognise the day, as this is a huge milestone for Britain’s longest serving monarch: it’s a seriously big deal!
But… it left me with just a day and half to find something suitably patriotic for Big Sis to wear. I did some quick digging and found THE LITTLE BOW COMPANY online.
One slightly pleading text later, Katie (who hand-makes the bows) kindly agreed to pop one her vintage union jack headbands and a bow clip (because there was NO WAY Lil Sis was going to miss out on an excuse to do her hair) in next-day post for me.
They arrived in time for me to bundle the girls off to school, singing ‘Happy birthday to The Queen, happy birthday to The Queen, happy biiiiiiiiirthday to The Que-en, happy birthday to The Queen!’ on the car ride to school. Yes, we’re that corny.
Did you do anything to celebrate today?
