At the risk of sounding a big smug, I had the best Mother’s Day the other week.
The girls woke me up with handmade cards and drawings (soooooo much better than anything store bought!) and a bunch of divine-smelling red roses. Then they made (with a little help from Daddy) bacon sandwiches for breakfast. Perfect.
In the evening Daddy and I cracked open a gift set I’d been sent from Bailey’s and we got our cocktail groove on: I poured one measure of espresso coffee and one measure of vodka, with two measures of Bailey’s Irish Cream. A quick shake over ice, poured with a couple of coffee beans for garnish, and our delicious Flat White Martinis were ready.
And, damn, they were good.
Bailey’s on its own is quite rich, but the bitterness of the coffee cut perfectly through its sweet creaminess, while the vodka gave it a nice little punch. The ideal nightcap to my lovely Mother’s Day – thanks Bailey’s!
