WINTERY FUN (country kids)

country kids 21 feb outdoor activities

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to join in with Coombe Mill’s COUNTRY KIDS linky, but it’s good to be back!

This pic was actually taken at a nature park near where we live; we hadn’t been out with the girls in a while and were all desperate to get outside and blow the cobwebs away.

Growing up I hated winter, but since moving to the UK I’ve come to love the chilliest of seasons. I’m not talking those miserable, sleet-filled days, but the ones when the skies are dry and – although grey – there’s a bright luminescence behind the clouds. When your breath comes in quick, steamy puffs, and the frigid air gets your heart galloping, and your blood pumping.

This was one of those days; it was cold, really cold. But we wrapped ourselves up and enjoyed a lovely walk, followed by some play time in the kids’ adventure park, and a hot chocolate in the park cafe afterwards to warm up. Lovely winter family fun!

  1. I love this picture – that’s one very happy girl!

  2. Hot chocolate makes being out in the cold all worthwhile. It’s nice to hear winter being appreciated 🙂

    • If you’d told me 15 years ago I’d love winter, I’d NEVER have believed you – I was such a sun bunny growing up!! xx

  3. I love getting out on lovely fresh wintry days too. She looks so happy on that swing!

  4. What a gorgeous picture! I love going out on cold crisp days for walks in the country and then getting home, popping the kettle on and defrosting with a nice cup of tea!! Thanks for linking up with #twinklytuesday
