Room to Grow snuggle blanket 4

Like all parents, we were worried about how Big Sis would feel when her younger sister arrived and she no longer had our undivided attention.

We needn’t have. From the moment we brought Lil Sis home the pair of them have been best friends. Big Sis loved her baby sister – to the point where I often had to rescue her from over-zealous hugs and kisses – and Lil Sis idolised her older sibling.

No one could make her collapse into hysterical giggles like Big Sis, and as soon as she was old enough she’d follow her everywhere, copying everything she did. As Lil Sis got older and her kooky personality came out, she was the one making her older sister laugh.

Now they’re six and eight, and although they bicker and argue and occasionally disown each other (did you read my post on SIBLING RIVALRY?), the animosity never lasts and within minutes they’re screaming with laughter again.

We’re about to embark on some big renovations, which means the girls have their own bedrooms for the very first time. They literally can’t wait, but I suspect they might also miss each other once they’re no longer bunk bed buddies.

The other day they were supposed to be going to sleep, but I kept hearing squealing instead; when I peeked in the room they were rolling around on the bed giggling hysterically. They were having so much fun I let them go – sure, routines are important, but so is laughter, and I want to make sure our house if filled with as much of that as possible.

By the way, how cute is their ROOM TO GROW grey-star fleece blanket? Perfect for snuggling up on movie night, this blanket can be machine washed and tumble dried. I’m currently using it as a bedspread for the girls, as it’s light and soft and perfect for these warmer evenings. The light-grey goes with any colour scheme, and I just love the contemporary white star design.

If you don’t know Room to Grow already, you seriously need to check it out. They have the coolest range of kids’ furniture, and I’ve got my eye on one of their High-Sleeper bunks, with a built-in desk and chest of drawers, for Big Sis’s new room. She needs somewhere to do her homework, and this would be the perfect space-saving solution.

But back to the lovely fleece blanket – how do you fancy winning one for yourself? I’m giving away a grey-star snuggle blanket, worth £25; to enter, simply follow the Rafflecopter prompts.

Good luck!

I often stand at the bottom of my boys bedroom stairs and listen to their conversations at night. When they’re supposed to be going to sleep but they are chatting away. As long as they aren’t banging around waking the toddler up, then nevermind that it’s getting late! We still do the winding down bedtime routine so I let them be

By the way, those are gorgeous gorgeous clear photos of the girls, they’d make being framed. I wish I had some as good as that of my two boys. Am I friends with my sibling? Yes, I am. My brother is 18 months or so younger than I am and we did use to fight – until he got too strong for me to tackle any more! He still remembers me sneaking into his bedroom and eating his Christmas selection boxes of chocolates after I’d polished off mine, so I think I’ve been forgiven but not forgotten on that one.

Relationships with my siblings have varied over time and circumstances over the years. I was very close to one of my brothers when growing up. My first holiday abroad was with him to Italy, a wonderful holiday with happy memories. That brother unfortunately died a few months ago. My other brother has always been very busy and active, he has tended to talk with me over family matters, he is the eldest and seems to act responsibly. My sister and I have become closer over the last few years, and she gets on well with my fiancé. I think they have a similar sense of humour. She is keen that we marry, teasing us that she needs to know date first, so as she can go shopping for a suitable outfit. She enjoyed attending our Engagement party. Nice to have close relationships with siblings, good memories etc.

  40. Chanise Kemp - May 31, 2017

Me and brother and sisters are so so close! I am the youngest of the 4 of us, but my middle sister is only 16months older than me and we are like twins (glued at the hip)! My eldest sister and i are also very close but not as close as my other one. Likewise with my brother really, we are close but i definitely have a better relationship with my sister who is just 16months older! The funniest bit is.. Me, My middle sister and my brother all live on the same estate, infact my sister is right next door and my brother is 5 doors away! My eldest sister only lives 5 minutes away so we see eachother all the time, plus we are so close with our parents we have a reuinion almost every saturday 🙂

Me being a girl got roped into cleaning jobs and shopping chores while them two fled off! They still think it’s funny now. Mind you I was very close to my mum so didn’t mind that much.

  67. Sadiyya Maryam - June 11, 2017

I have 3 brothers and the relationship is varied with all 3. My youngest brother and I have a 10 year gap but we are incredibly close and he is always there for me and vice versa despite living a few hours away and he adores my daughter. With the other two it’s not as close but just mutual respect. My daughter is an only child and I do worry about her not having siblings and how it may effect her in the future.
