Like all parents, we were worried about how Big Sis would feel when her younger sister arrived and she no longer had our undivided attention.
We needn’t have. From the moment we brought Lil Sis home the pair of them have been best friends. Big Sis loved her baby sister – to the point where I often had to rescue her from over-zealous hugs and kisses – and Lil Sis idolised her older sibling.
No one could make her collapse into hysterical giggles like Big Sis, and as soon as she was old enough she’d follow her everywhere, copying everything she did. As Lil Sis got older and her kooky personality came out, she was the one making her older sister laugh.
Now they’re six and eight, and although they bicker and argue and occasionally disown each other (did you read my post on SIBLING RIVALRY?), the animosity never lasts and within minutes they’re screaming with laughter again.
We’re about to embark on some big renovations, which means the girls have their own bedrooms for the very first time. They literally can’t wait, but I suspect they might also miss each other once they’re no longer bunk bed buddies.
The other day they were supposed to be going to sleep, but I kept hearing squealing instead; when I peeked in the room they were rolling around on the bed giggling hysterically. They were having so much fun I let them go – sure, routines are important, but so is laughter, and I want to make sure our house if filled with as much of that as possible.
By the way, how cute is their ROOM TO GROW grey-star fleece blanket? Perfect for snuggling up on movie night, this blanket can be machine washed and tumble dried. I’m currently using it as a bedspread for the girls, as it’s light and soft and perfect for these warmer evenings. The light-grey goes with any colour scheme, and I just love the contemporary white star design.
If you don’t know Room to Grow already, you seriously need to check it out. They have the coolest range of kids’ furniture, and I’ve got my eye on one of their High-Sleeper bunks, with a built-in desk and chest of drawers, for Big Sis’s new room. She needs somewhere to do her homework, and this would be the perfect space-saving solution.
But back to the lovely fleece blanket – how do you fancy winning one for yourself? I’m giving away a grey-star snuggle blanket, worth £25; to enter, simply follow the Rafflecopter prompts.
