When I moved here from ‘Down Under’, 13 years ago, I noticed several things:
Every single person in the entire country knows the words to Angels.
You guys drink. A lot. On school nights too.
Christmas is even MORE magical in winter – the dark evenings showing off twinkly Xmas lights, steaming cups of mulled wine warming your frozen fingers, the annual ‘will it, won’t it’ anticipation of a white Christmas.
Then there’s The Snowman movie – that perennial festive favourite you can’t even think about without humming that song. You know the one I mean.
Last year the classic was joined by The Snowman and the Snowdog, created to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the original. To help you get into the festive mood we’ve got three copies of the Snowman and the Snowdog to give away!
Enter by following the Rafflecopter prompts below. And, while you’re scrolling down, here are some fun Snowman facts, compiled by Bob Eckstein, author of ‘The History of the Snowman’. You’re welcome.
• it takes an average of 10,000,000,000 snowflakes to make a snowman
• in 1511 the people of Brussels covered the entire city in snowman to boost the moral of townsfolk suffering from plague and sickness
• the world’s tallest snowman was built in Maine in 2008, and towered 122 feet!
• In 1876 a prudish Parisian left a small fortune in her will, with instructions that it should be spent clothing naked snowmen erected in the city
You’re still singing that song in your head, aren’t you?
