Life isn't about material possessions. I know that, I really do.
But I defy you not to get a little bit excited about this amazing, hand-painted jewellery box. Sigh... isn't it just gorgeous?
I don't just love it because it's stunningly unique, and exquisitely crafted, and lovingly painted with tiny, ornate brush strokes (although that would be more than enough reason).
I love it because it's from NOVICA.COM - a site set up to recognise and reward artisans from developing regions in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Set up in association with National Geographic, Novica.com sources artwork, jewellery and furniture directly from the master craftsmen and women who make them, to sell via their website.
So the money goes straight back to the villages, and the people who lovingly create the pieces - rather than lining the pockets of the importers who buy them for a pittance, then resell at a massive mark up.
And, it means you're also getting beautiful handmade pieces, at a reduced price (even once you factor in the shipping costs). It's a win win.
Once I stop drooling over the jewellery box, painstakingly hand painted by Peruvian artist, Apolonio Alejandro Roque, I've already got my eye on some of these fab prints, by Mexican painter, Marina Pallares.
I'm also kinda loving these MENS' CREWNECK SWEATERS (that's jumpers, to us Brits!); especially the Alpaca ones with the Inca designs.
Check out the gorgeous range yourself, at Novica.com, including these colourful WOMEN'S SHAWLS FROM INDIA and intricate SILVER WRISTBAND BRACELETS.
