SEW WHAT?!

Let’s be honest; fabric glue is never going to be sexy. But, at the risk of destroying my uber-cool reputation, I have to admit: I’m now officially a fan.

Allow me to explain: Bostik Sew Simple Glu & Fix is specially designed for clothing alterations, additions, and repairs. No more faffing about with needles and thread. Yay! But does it work? I’m glad you asked…

I’d held on to this playsuit after Lil Sis grew out of it, because I just loved the kitschy pattern. I had dreams of converting it into a smock top, which, of course, never actually happened. Instead it just sat in a crumpled pile, mocking me for being so domestically challenged.

Then, as if by fate, a sample tube of BOSTIK SEW SIMPLE arrived to save the day!

Firstly, I cut off the bottom two inches of the original playsuit (before pic, above L), including the poppers and cuffs that had originally formed the leg holes. I used the Sew Simple applicator to smear a line of fabric glue along the bottom (top R pic), then carefully turned up the hem, sticking the two edges together.

The glue activated quickly, changing to a flexible, rubbery consistency. I kept a gentle pressure on it, and the hem was neatly and firmly sealed within minutes.

I left it for half an hour before ironing. I was a bit worried the heat would melt the rubbery glue, but it held up perfectly. It can be washed as normal too.

Here’s the finished result, modelled by Lil Sis, which I’m really rather chuffed with!

What do you think???

Now we just need some warm weather to arrive, so Lil Sis can show off her lovely new Summery top. Won’t hold my breath then.

NEWSFLASH: I used Sew Simple to glue an unravelling seam in my slippers… and it worked brilliantly! Is there no end to the talents of this fabric glue?!?
