LOOK WHAT WE MADE! (crafts with kids)

I was sooooooo excited to find this little crystal-growing kit thingy-ma-jinky (not the actual name).

One of my coolest memories of school was growing copper sulphate crystals in a petrie dish in science class. This is way cooler – check it out…

little tree thingy sits in sodium mixture
sodium mixture soaks up through tree thingy
voila! salt crystals bloom on tree thingy
so pretty!
tree thingy smashes on ground after big sis drops it. whoops.

That is pretty cool.  I don’t think we ever grew crystals in science at school.  We did make DNA once though which was rather excellent.  Was the tree salvageable or was that the end of that?
