IT”S THE SMALL THINGS…

Sometimes it’s not the big moments in life that bring you the most happiness, it’s the teeny weeny things. Here are some of the small moments that brought me big smiles this week:

• Starting the day with a huge gummy grin from Lil Sis.

• Reconnecting with an old High School friend via Facebook (Hi Shelley!)

• Big Sis giving me a kiss, without me even having to ask.

• Watching a movie from start to finish, without interruption.

• Catching Lil Sis staring at me, like I was the most amazing person in the world.

• Seeing the dishwasher emptied, and the kitchen tops all cleared and clean.

• Getting one of those fish pedicures. Tickly!

• When Big Sis had a bad dream and cuddled into me, like a baby koala.

• Finding the perfect wall stickers to decorate the girls’ room.

• Cuddling the kids straight from the bath, with their hair all soft and fluffy.

• Getting to the bottom of the laundry basket.

• Big Sis using the potty for the first time.

• Sunshine.

• Finding tadpoles in the pond in the backyard.

• Big Sis crawling around the house, pretending to be a dog.

• Finally getting back to the gym.

• Having my first bottle of beer since Lil Sis was born.

• Getting a solid 7 hours sleep on Saturday night!

• Lil Sis falling asleep sitting upright in her Jumperoo.

• Baking chocolate chip biccies with Big Sis.

What have been your ‘Small Moments’ this week????

My small things this week revolve around the fact that DD (aged 2 1/4) has just started speaking in sentences – it’s a bit later than some of her friends (most of them actually) but she is working in two languages. This week she told me: I don’t like it; I don’t want to; and stop it Mummy! Music to my ears.

I have had so many that I would take up all your comment space! The highlights include line drying some washing, cleaning the bathroom and going to bed early!

Midlifesinglemum: Big Sis was the same – in fact she’s really only regularly speaking in proper sentences now that she’s 2.5! They all catch up with each other eventually, don’t they? Then we spend the next 15 years wishing for a little peace and quiet… LOL!! x

Pippa D: Ohhhhhhh…. a shiny clean bathroom with fresh towels, and no water marks on the taps – I’m smiling just thinking about it… x

My oldest child didn’t start speaking until he was 3 but when he did speak he started in full sentences. :-) I love how you’ve counted the wonderful little things, I must sit down and do that too as it’s so easy to overwhelmed with all the negative things.

Vegemitevix: Kids just sit back and soak it all in, don’t they? Then they just blow you away with what they can suddenly say or do!!! x
