Why, Toddler, Why??

Why do you sob like your heart’s been broken, just because I’ve wiped your face?
Why do you wake early on the days the baby sleeps late?
Why is your reply always ‘NO!’?
Why is it fun to put Mummy’s clean dishes in the dishwasher?
Why do you collapse to the ground like an Italian football player as soon as I mention the word ‘Bed’?
Why did you pull every single tissue out of that jumbo box I just bought?
Why do you harass me all day for rice and cheese and ‘cooocummer’ (cucumber), then not even touch it once I finally make it for you?
Why does your nose run so much?
Why do you scream the house down when I try to brush your hair, yet sit as still as a statue at the hairdressers?
Why do you try to beat me to the front door when someone knocks, only to get all tangled up in my legs?
Why do you have to tear all my catalogues into tiny pieces?
Why do you insist on peeling your own mandarins, and leaving little bits of skin everywhere? Ditto with bananas?
Why do you eat toothpaste straight from the tube?
Why do you talk louder, the more I ask you to ‘Shhhhhhh!’?
Hmmmmmmm?

I could add a few more to these: why do you squirm and scream when I take you out of the bath? Why do you decide to sit up when I am chaning you poopy nappy? Why do you scream for milk then throw the bottle on the ground? Why do you belly flop onto the sidewalk in the middle of the high street when I am trying to put you in the buggy? And the list goes on and on! Little M is 2 tomorrow and I am at my wits end. Sending you lots of love and support!! BE STRONG!! xx

Oh Dear. Little P’s thing is a short, very sharp “NO WAY”. To which I reply in a very slow “YES WAY”….the outcome, well, I’ll let you imagine!!!!

Bless you. I’m with BG is at that stage too and she is very very stubborn when she says NO she means it.

Brilliant post. I’ve got a LO that’s just like this too. Very stubborn.

    I have a two-year-old, so I completely understand!
Also, why do you ask me for paper, then draw on the furniture anyway?
Why do you insist on wearing your wellie boots in the house, but kick them off when we’re actually outside?

Also: Why do you scream as if I have physically attacked you when I take your toothbrush away after you’ve finished brushing your teeth.
    That’s Tori’s latest addition – I feel evil every time…

Brilliant post, very true and made me giggle

    xx

Very Funny! The Princess acts like I’m ripping off her arms when I make her get dressed. Yes, it is the same heartbreak she suffers when I wipe her face. x

I’m chuckling away here. Exactly what my nearly 3 year old does.

And Mrs Scruff, my boy does the short, sharp ‘No Way’ so we have a lot of ‘Yes Way”s here as well.

You gotta love these little people :-)

Phew, it’s not just my darling little Monkey then..! Do you think Toddlers are designed to exact Karmic revenge on us, for sins we’ve committed in past lives???? ;)
