This little gem is something I actually spotted on the JoJo Maman Bébé website and after a bit of grovelling I manage to talk the lovely PR’s into letting me try it out.
Previously I’d bought Lucia two lovely little table lamps. One of them you could turn on and off, by lightly tapping the base. Unfortunately, after being given the Lucia treatment (she’d stretch her arm through the rails of her cot, and tap the crap out of it for hours on end) it finally gave up the ghost. That was £15 down the drain.
Next I bought a lamp with adorable little cut-out butterflies on the cardboard shade. Within hours of plugging it in, she’d unscrewed the bulb, and torn the shade into little strips. Money wasted? £20.
What I love about this lamp is that it’s made from a durable plastic dome, so if the little one does knock it off the bedside table (highly likely) it won’t break. Plus, the bulb is actually screwed inside the cover, so Lucia can’t pull it out – no matter how hard she tries! It has two buttons on the front – a touch of the lower button turns the lamp on, and by holding it down you can either brighten or dim the light accordingly. Then, if you touch the top button once, and light gradually fades over 15 minutes, before switching off.
The Babytec autofade bedside lamp costs £20 from JoJo Maman Bébé,
which I thought was pretty reasonable, considering this one should last years, rather than days or weeks!!
