To bare, or not to bare??

So now that I’m pregnant it puts a whole new spin on packing for our upcoming holiday. We’re spending a week at the gorgeous Windjammer Landing resort in St Lucia, and I’ve been told to expect temperatures of around 28 degrees celsius. I’ve seen some amazing swimming pools on the website, and I’ve already mentally claimed my sun lounger with my towel.
Which leads me neatly to my first vitally important holiday purchase – the swimsuit. I had a look at a few websites, but I’m still a bit early in the season, so couldn’t find a huge selection. The ones I did find seemed a bit ‘Mumsy’ (yes, I realise I AM a Mum, but that doesn’t mean I have to look Mumsy, does it?).
Then I found a cute maternity bikini with a soft waistband that you can either wear up, or fold down under the bump. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend, at £39, but it was so comfortable, and well fitting that I didn’t mind splurging.
Except now I’m panicking that I’m being a bit ‘in your face’ by baring my pregnant belly in a bikini!!
What do you think? Should pregnant bellies stay covered up by the poolside, or do you think it’s acceptable to show off your baby bulge on a beachside holiday???

Hey if ya got it – flaunt it Kiddo :-) There are a lot out there who have much greater bumps and they’re not even pregnant Jax!!

Baby bumps look cute – stick it out and proud.

we went to the South of France when I was very largely pregnant with George. I could not get a one piece that fitted without making me look like Borat for love nor money!

So, bikini it was and I felt quite comfortable- no-one looked at me funny. In fact, I got lots of ‘oh look she’s pregnant in the sun’ smiles…. I would just add though that I was BOILING! and it made George kick like a nutter so I had to keep dunking a long white sari in the sea and then laying it over my bump to cool it down!! So, I definitely recommend taking a white sari/big muslin or something thin and white to cover up from the heat.

Oooooh St. Lucia? I’ve got massive holiday envy. x

Personally I flaunted mine for all its worth. Its a completely natural thing and you should be proud of that life you are looking after.

I would! I agree with Lindsay. There are many aspects of bodies that ought to be covered up and pregnant tummies need not be one of them!

I think if it’s comfy and you love it then go for it. Loved comment by ‘Georges Mum’, it made me chuckle.

Awwww, thanks! I shall bare my bump with pride in the St Lucian sun – although I’ve also been warned about the mosquitos, so will def take George’s Mum’s advice and invest in some roomy kaftans and wraps (more justified shopping – yay!!) xx
